2027 National Planning Conference

The American Planning Association holds its 2027 National Planning Conference May 15-18 in Houston. It covers the planning discipline broadly, with a substantial transportation planning track alongside the rest of the program. The venue is not yet published on APA’s future conferences page.

Why it matters for the data layer

City and MPO planners are the downstream consumers of transit, roadway and land use data, and they are the ones who have to defend a number in a public meeting. The transportation sessions are where accessibility analysis, travel demand modeling and equity measurement methods get argued over by people who will apply them to a real corridor decision.

It is a general planning conference, so the data-and-technology density is lower than a modeling or ITS event. Read it for what methods have crossed from research into routine practice.
