APTA TRANSform & EXPO is APTA's flagship event and, by the association's account, the
largest public-transportation trade show in North America. The 2026 edition is
October 4-7 at McCormick Place in Chicago, pairing the TRANSform conference program with
the EXPO show floor.

## Why it matters for the data layer

TRANSform is where the whole industry shows up at once. That makes it the best single
read on where transit technology is heading, even though the actual standards work
happens in smaller rooms elsewhere. The scale is the point: APTA reports more than 800
exhibiting companies and over 12,000 attendees from about 85 countries.

Nearly every company selling into transit is on the floor, from fare systems to CAD/AVL
to planning software, so it is a fast way to see what the market is really shipping. Free
education sessions run on the show floor alongside the paid program. And the people who
approve technology purchases are here, which makes the floor a leading indicator of what
agencies will be buying and integrating next. For data practitioners, TRANSform is less
about the specs than the market those specs have to survive in.
