The American Traffic Safety Services Association holds its annual convention and traffic expo February 5-9, 2027 at the Long Beach Convention Center on East Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach, California. The program runs on roadway safety infrastructure, work zone practice, and the products and technologies behind both, with an exhibit floor of device and material manufacturers alongside it. Attendance skews toward state DOT traffic and safety engineers, work zone and TMC operations staff, roadway safety contractors, and the sign, marking, and device makers who supply them.

Why it matters for the data layer

Work zone feeds, sign and marking inventories, and safety device telemetry all originate in this community. ATSSA is one of the few places where the agencies writing the specifications and the manufacturers building to them are in the same building, which is where the practical constraints on data quality get set.

If you follow WZDx, this is the source room rather than the standards room. What shows up in a work zone feed depends on what the contractor in the field can realistically report and what the device on the barrel can realistically emit, and both of those questions get settled here.
