CTAA EXPO is the annual conference of the Community Transportation Association of America. The 2026 edition ran May 10-13 at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, drawing the rural, tribal, and community-transit operators, mobility managers, and vendors who serve smaller systems.

Why it matters for the data layer

Community and rural transit is where demand-responsive service lives, and that is the corner of the data layer where GTFS-Flex, microtransit booking systems, and mobility-management platforms carry the most weight. These systems are smaller and later to modernize than the big urban agencies, so the data questions stay practical: getting a dial-a-ride onto a trip planner at all, or standing up a first real-time feed.

The event has concluded, but its session topics are a useful read on where small-agency data modernization stands, and on how demand-responsive service is starting to show up in the same feeds riders already use for fixed-route transit.
