ITS Texas holds its annual meeting November 18-20 at the Marriott Rivercenter on the San Antonio River Walk. The chapter runs it as a training and technical tour day followed by two days of technical sessions and an exhibit hall. The host city rotates around the state each year.
Why it matters for the data layer
Texas specifies and procures a large share of its ITS device, traffic signal and data sharing work at the district level rather than centrally. That makes the district the unit of practice, and this meeting is where TxDOT districts, the regional traffic management centers and the integrators who handle their feeds compare notes on what they have deployed and what it produces.
Anyone tracking how a big state’s roadway data actually gets specified will find more of the answer here than in a statewide policy document. The people who write the specs and the people who wire the devices are both on the exhibit floor.
