Mpact holds its Transit + Community Conference September 14-17 in Toronto, Ontario. The organization, founded as Rail~Volution, describes the program as being about the interplay of transit, other types of mobility, land use and development in building great places to live. Sessions cover corridor and station-area planning, transit-oriented development, community engagement and the integration of new mobility options with transit, and mobile workshops run across the Toronto region, including Evergreen Brick Works and Mirvish Village. The local host committee includes Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario, the City of Toronto and the TTC.

Why it matters for the data layer

Station-area and TOD decisions are downstream consumers of the GTFS, ridership and land-use datasets this audience maintains. The planners arguing about where a station entrance goes are working from the same feeds and counts that agency data staff produce, and the host committee puts Metrolinx and TTC data and integration people in the building alongside them. MobilityData is also attending, which is a fair signal of where the spec conversations land.

This is a non-US event, so treat it as remote or partner coverage rather than a trip. Toronto is a routine destination for US transit practitioners and the series has always been North American in scope, so the program is worth reading even from a distance.
