2027 New Shared Mobility Summit
SUMC's annual shared mobility summit in Chicago, built around regional cross-sector Change Teams from cities, agencies and funders.
The Shared-Use Mobility Center holds its annual summit from midday Wednesday April 28 to early Friday afternoon April 30 at WorkLife Meetings in THE MART, 222 West Merchandise Mart Plaza in Chicago. The format centers on regional cross-sector Change Teams drawn from cities, transit agencies, community organizations and philanthropy, pairing virtual workshops with the in-person sessions.
Why it matters for the data layer
SUMC occupies the shared mobility end of the data conversation, which in practice means microtransit and mobility-on-demand pilots: how they get specified, how they get procured, and how anyone evaluates them afterward from operator data. That last part is where most of these programs get stuck, because the operator holds the trip records and the agency holds the reporting obligation.
The Change Team structure is the thing to watch. It puts the city, the agency, the community organization and the funder for one region at the same table, and those are the four parties who have to agree on what data a pilot produces before it starts.
