The Center for Tribal Transportation holds the National Transportation in Indian Country Conference November 15-19 at Gila River Casino & Resort-Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, Arizona. The organizer lists eight tracks: planning, transit, government and TTP 101, safety, technology and innovation, project development, certifications and hot topics, and road management and maintenance. Alongside the sessions there is hands-on training, professional certification and a heavy equipment roadeo.

Why it matters for the data layer

Tribal transit programs carry the same FTA reporting and trip-planner visibility expectations as large agencies, with a fraction of the staff to meet them. Their route data is chronically missing from national feed registries, which means the trips exist but the riders searching for them find nothing. That gap is a staffing and tooling problem more than a technical one.

This is the one national meeting where those staff and the federal program officers from BIA, FHWA and FTA who set their reporting requirements are in the same building. The technology and innovation track is the place to watch for what tooling actually reaches these programs.
