TransitData 2026 was the 10th International Symposium on the Use of Public Transit
Automated Data for Planning, Operations, and Management, held June 23-25 at Victoria
College, University of Toronto. It is run by the university's Transit Analytics Lab and was
hosted in hybrid format.

## Why it matters for the data layer

This symposium sits directly on the ITS Feed beat: the use of automated transit data,
from fare collection to vehicle location to passenger counts, for planning and operations.
That is exactly the analytics layer between raw feeds and agency decisions. It is a small,
focused research community rather than a trade event, co-chaired by Amer Shalaby and
Brendon Hemily.

Held in Toronto, it is a non-US event, and this edition has concluded. But the symposium
series is one of the better records of methods work on transit data, and the 2026 program
is worth mining for techniques that will show up in agency planning practice.
