Transportation Alternatives runs the 13th annual Vision Zero Cities conference October 28
and 29 at the NYU Kimmel Center in Manhattan. Day one is keynotes and breakout sessions.
Day two opens with a networking breakfast at the Wagner Park Classroom and then goes into
morning and afternoon field tours of street safety projects. Registration and the speaker
list are already posted.

## Why it matters for the data layer

Vision Zero programs live or die on crash, speed and enforcement data. A city that cannot
say how many people were hurt on a given corridor last year, or how fast traffic actually
moves there, has no way to defend a redesign or to know whether one worked. This conference
is where cities compare what they can genuinely measure and publish against what their
programs claim to track.

The audience skews toward New York and the Northeast, with city officials, engineers,
planners, advocates and scholars in the same sessions. Worth following for anyone on safety
data reporting or the data side of automated enforcement.
